The latest compliance regulation for lighting products, Brazilian Inmetro 231/2026, has been officially promulgated. It updates energy efficiency limits, safety testing standards, and labeling requirements for imported LED industrial lights, outdoor street lamps, and commercial lighting fixtures, making it one of the most significant policy adjustments in the Latin American lighting market in 2026.
Under the new regulation, imported lighting products must complete local testing and registration and affix the updated compliance label. Products failing to meet energy efficiency requirements or with incomplete documentation will be prohibited from circulation in the Brazilian market.
